Once you have well configured DC++ you can do your researches.

HOW TO

  • SEARCH/DOWNLOAD A FILE: use the lens on the button bar. When you find something, right click the name of file and click Download or Download to...
  • GET ONE USER's FILE LIST: goto the user nickname in the nick list. Double click on it or right click it and select Get the file list. Once u receive it, you can do the same things described in SEARCH/DOWNLOAD A FILE.
  • GRANT A SLOT: normally can happen that another user asks you a slot. Depending on your bandwidth you can choose to open one.
In the private chat that has pop from that user, just type /grant .
  • LEAVE AN AUTOMATIC ANSWER: when you are going to left your PC, please leave a message to other users. Use the command /away [YOUR_AWAY_MESSAGE] .
With version 0.181 , when you minimize dc++ windows, you automatically turn on the /away command.
  • (NEW) DOWNLOAD IT FASTER: After you have queued a file to be downloaded: do the following things ---> Goto Download Queue ---> Right Click on the file ---> Click on Search For Alternates ---> A new search window will pop ---> When search is finished ---> Close the search window. That is. If you go back to Download Queue you'll understand what is happen. Most of times this work fine if many copies of the file are available in the open hubs. This tip is thank to HicHic.

    ISSUES

  • "I CAN'T DOWNLOAD ANYTHING FROM USERS BUT THEY CAN DO IT FROM ME, WHY? "
  • "I DON'T RECEIVE ANY FILE LIST, WHY?"
    >>>Goto DC++ Config and check your congiguration.

  • "I WAS DOWNLOADING BUT ... "
  • "THE USER I CHOOSE HAS GOT FREE SLOTS BUT..."
Anyway now i get one of these messages: connecting... / connection time out...

    >>>
In both cases the most frequent problem is that your bandwidth is full , EXPECIALLY THE UPLOAD BANDWIDTH.
So goto Settings----->Sharing----->Slots , and subtract one. Then go to the bottom of DC++ page and close one upload (right click on red arrow and click "close connection").
If it does not work, close one of your downloads.
If it does not work, the case is the same but on the other side. Simply: be patient and go on with something else. Your download will start in few minutes.
